Thai Massage has Super Powers

To be in the present moment is the big goal of meditation practices.

It may seem simple, but it is not easy.

If you are like me, being fully present in this moment takes constant practice and effort. That level of mindfulness is difficult to maintain going through your normal day!

One of the many benefits of massage is that it helps focus your attention on your body. I might even go as far as saying that I think it is the primary benefit of massage!

If you have trouble being in the present moment, fully inhabiting your body, or even understanding what that means, then hear me out.

Pain or tightness in muscles often creeps up. Unless there has been a specific trauma like an accident or fall, the tension slowly rises over time. It becomes your new normal. You may not even be consciously aware of the level of tension or pain until it screams to get your attention. Your shoulders up tighten from too many hours a day in front of your computer, in bad ergonomics at your desk, from sitting in the car with limited motion, and from repetitive movements or habit patterns creating this new “normal.”

Finally, you go get a massage, and while laying on the table or mat, you notice your body. You notice the tender spots as your therapist works on your muscles.

“Ouch! Wow! I had no idea that was so tender!”
Have you ever uttered such words? Or thought those things?
Yeah, me too. Because we don’t notice the day-to-day increasing tension.

That’s where Thai massage superpowers come in.
Total body awareness.

You can’t help but feel into all the tension spots when your Thai therapist moves, stretches and compresses your muscles. Thai massage is more active and more interactive than lying on a table.

You are stretched, and your body is moved!

The tension can be released with each deep compression, each joint mobilization, and each stretch of your hamstrings.

During your massage, become mindful of your body and the tension you hold. This awareness allows you to breathe in and slowly release tension with each exhale.
