Move out of your comfort zone.

I need to push myself to the next level.

I wanted to practice Thai massage, not just little bits and pieces on the table, but on a floor mat. So in September of 2014, I went back to Arlington and I repeated the Introductory Thai massage course at The Thai Instiute. They had this great deal where you could repeat a class for no additional charge. The tradeoff was becoming a helper. I came to the class a little early and helped set up the room and stayed a little late to help clean up. I thought it was a great deal! The second time around really opened my eyes. To learn it again with a different perspective. My teacher set goals for me beyond the course goals. He talked to us individually and pushed us in the direction we needed. Because this was my second time around, I could look at the practice in a deeper way. I begin to understand a little bit more about what I was doing and how the channels worked with the movement and stretching.
Then I started getting completely fascinated.

Why does Thai massage work so well?

I was hooked. I was determined to understand the why of Thai massage. The reasons it seemed to work so well.
When I got home, I was practicing more and had more confidence. I decided that it was time to open my own office, I just had to do it. I wanted to practice, so  the only place I was going to be able to practice is if I created a place to practice. And so I jumped and counted on opening my wings on the way down. I leased an office in December and I was crazy nervous, but I did it.

I worked two or three days a week in mhy new office and kept my other massage jobs too. The first year or two was really nutty because I was working two other jobs to pay the bills and keep my fledgling business going. It was hard work. I learned a lot - about myself, how to run a business, practicing Thai massage, working with clients in a way that began to create loyal-long-time clients.

It was a good choice and I am still enjoying my business and Thai massage.

If you are interested in learning more about Thai massage and if training would be a good fit for you and your business, check out my CE classes. I am an approved provider with NCBTMB. I have weekend specialty classes and an in-depth Diploma Certificate in Thai Massage.
